Illuminate is more than a conference. It's a community where women pause from the demands of life, reconnect with who they are, and gain practical tools to lead with purpose.
Why Illuminate Was Created
Illuminate was born out of a simple but profound realization: women are carrying more than ever before.
They're balancing families, careers, dreams, responsibilities, and expectations, all while trying to stay true to themselves. We could see that the women around us were powerful, creative, resilient, compassionate, and brilliant, yet so many were running on empty, quietly setting aside their own growth, vision, and wellbeing just to keep everything else afloat.
We saw the tension. Women were doing everything for everyone else while often losing connection with themselves in the process. And we couldn't stop asking the question:
What if women had the tools, the space, and the community to step into the life they were made for?
From that question, Illuminate was born. That was 2024, in the Fox Cities of Wisconsin, where Laura Lenhart, Molly Hildebrandt, Heather Swokowski, and Patty Dempsey turned the question into a full-day conference for the women around them. We envisioned a place where women could step away from the noise, remember who they are, and gain practical, life-giving tools to live and lead with intention. Not a motivational moment that fades by Monday, but a meaningful experience that reshapes how a woman sees herself and what she believes is possible.
Our vision has always been clear: to empower women to become purpose-fueled leaders by removing the mental and emotional barriers that hold them back. Through meaningful teaching, transformative storytelling, and hands-on application, women discover that their impact is not just for themselves. It reaches their families, communities, workplaces, and beyond.
We believe every woman carries something capable of creating meaningful impact. And we believe that impact grows stronger in the company of other women choosing courage, growth, and purpose alongside her. That is why we want:
